Constable position for District 2 is now up for grabs
CLAY COUNTY-A recent public notice announced the Clay County Commission is accepting nominations for “the position of Constable in District 2” here and the information released also said commissioners would “vote to fill the position” at their “next scheduled meeting on September 12.”
Those nominations are being accepted due to the fact Jerry York resigned as the District 2 Constable and officials with the Clay County mayor’s office said state law requires the position to be filled within 120 days of it being vacant, unless it became available with a scheduled general election coming within 120 days of the vacancy.
The notice said “anyone interested” in the position “can contact the county mayor’s office at 243-2161,” and said nominations will also be accepted at the meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Clay County Community Center.
