Cruise-in Saturday on courthouse square

Weekend event is one of three hosted by local Canton Lodge to fund CCHS scholarships
CELINA-Canton Lodge will hold their first cruise-in of the year this Saturday, May 17 here around the historic Clay County Courthouse square from 3 to 6 p.m.
The event is free for the public and will feature hot rods, classic cars, pickups and Jeeps.
In addition to the cars, the event will also feature music, food, and door prizes. Organizers of the event describe it as “clean family fun.”
This event is the first of three Canton Lodge #481 will host this year, with their second cruise-in set for July 19 at Celina Health and Rehab from 3 to 6 p.m.
The final event is the 3rd Annual Car Show, which will be on September 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. here on the square.
These events are a way the local Masonic Lodge raises money to provide scholarships to local Clay County High School students. Funds are also given to fire departments located in Clay County at various times during the year.
Canton Lodge #481 provided scholarships to four students this year. Two females and two males were selected and were each provided with a $250 scholarship.
This year scholarships were provided to Joseph Crabtree, Kaden Strong, Kendall Hamilton, and Amaya Hayes.
Canton Lodge offered their appreciation for all of the support they receive, including from event sponsors, people who bring vehicles to the events, and residents who attend.
