Cruise-ins allow Canton Lodge to award scholarships
CELINA-The latest Canton Lodge #481 Cruise-in was held here on the historic square earlier this month and organizers deemed it another big success.
The event featured a wide selection of vehicles, including some historic cars, modern cars, trucks, rat rods, jeeps, and more.
The May Cruise-in marked the beginning of the second year of Clay County’s local Masonic Lodge hosting the annual events, which include three cruise-ins and a car show. Proceeds from these events are being used to help students by funding local scholarships.
This year, Canton Lodge #481 presented four $250 scholarships to Clay County High School graduates.
Two students taking the traditional college route, and a pair of others opting to follow the technical/vocational college route were selected.
The 2024 scholarships were awarded to Benjamin Maxfield, Emma Walker, Haydan McGee and Shelby Strode.
These scholarships were made possible by sponsors of the car show, participants who brought vehicles, people who attend the events, and volunteer efforts of the Canton Lodge #481 members and their families.
“Without the combined efforts of many, this wouldn’t be possible,” organizers said.
Proceeds from the event also allowed the local lodge to donate $250 to the Celina Fire Department, a volunteer organization chosen at random earlier in the year.
More information about future events can be found on the Canton Lodge #481 Cruise In & Car Show Facebook page, or by contacting any lodge member.
