Clay County Lady Bulldogs will have number two seed in 7-A softball tourney, scheduled to start Monday in Celina
CELINA-The District 7-A softball tournament is scheduled to begin here on Monday, May 4 and the Clay County Lady Bulldogs will take a number two seeding into the tournament, after splitting a pair of games with Jackson County to end the regular season.
The Red Boiling girls took the top seed and the other first-round bye. Clay County finished out the regular season on Wednesday, topping Jackson County 13-5 here after losing to the Lady Blue Devils 6-4 in Gainesboro the day before. CCHS wound up 7-3 in the regular season in 7-A play, splitting season series with Jackson County, RBS and Monterey, who wound up third.
Play-in games to advance to the final four will be held between third seed Monterey and sixth seed Clarkrange, and fourth-seeded Jackson County and fifth-seeded Pickett County.
The tourney is scheduled to begin Monday with a game between RBS and the Jackson-Pickett winner. That game will be followed by a game between Clay County and the Monterey-Clarkrange winner.
Loser’s bracket action is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, with following games at 4 and 6 p.m.
A semifinal game in the winner’s bracket will open play on Wednesday at 4 p.m., followed by a game at 6 p.m. in the loser’s bracket to reduce the field to the final two.
The championship game is set for Thursday at 5 p.m., with a second game, if necessary, at 7 p.m.
