Dr. Mauricio honored with the THA meritorious service award
NASHVILLE-Retired physician Dr. Roberto Mauricio was recently honored here at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel by the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) for his selfless generosity, dedication, and more than 30 years of service to the residents of Clay County in an award ceremony held October 6 with local Cumberland River Hospital (CRH) staff members in attendance.
The meritorious service award is given in recognition of outstanding leadership and service by a physician in support of a THA member hospital.
“We have always appreciated Dr. Mauricio’s dedication and service to our community,” a CRH spokesperson said. “It is truly gratifying to see this dedication recognized on a state-wide basis.
“Congratulations to Dr. Mauricio on this prestigious award!”
Mauricio’s career began in the Philippines in 1965. In addition to his training as a family physician, he completed a general surgery residency and a plastic surgery rotation.
In 1981, he began providing healthcare services to the people of Clay County. During his career, he served Cumberland River Hospital in various capacities, including serving as chief of the medical staff, emergency room physician, and as a family practice physician.
Dr. Mauricio’s dedication to patient care was evidenced by his involvement in quality improvement activities and by the scope of his availability to his patients. At one point in time, Dr. Mauricio was the only physician practicing in Clay County.
