Eads chosen by commission to fill vacant school board seat
CELINA-County commissioners filled the vacant District 5 school board seat and passed the budget and corresponding tax rate for the current fiscal year at their September meeting.
Jerry Eads was chosen unanimously by commissioners to fill the District 5 school board seat at the meeting, after contender Nathan Sherrell withdrew his name from consideration. Commissioners had been trying to fill the seat for roughly three months.
The vacancy occurred when former board member Wanda Daniels resigned after being hired as the county election administrator. Eads is a former educator and coach in the Clay school system.
Commissioners also passed the 2009-10 fiscal year budget and tax rate of $3.10, the same rate as last year. See more details on the meeting in a future edition of the HORIZON.
