Fair fun runs into weekend

Abby Head named 2025 Fairest of the Fair
CELINA-This year’s “Very Vegas” Clay County Fair kicked off last Saturday with the crowning of Abby Head as the 2025 Fairest of the Fair, and the annual community event continues all week and into the weekend here on the west bank of the Cumberland River at the Clay County Fairgrounds with arena events, midway rides, and much more.
Gates open at 4 p.m. daily, followed by the midway provided by Casey’s Rides beginning at 5 p.m. each evening through Saturday, June 21.
Nightly events will include the carnival, the fair food court, decorated hay bales, adult and youth exhibit viewing, demonstrations, and much more.
A full list of feature events will also be held according to this schedule:
• WEDNESDAY: Dance Team Exhibitions and Face Painting (6-8 p.m.); Sheep Show (6:30 p.m.); Circus Show (7 & 9 p.m.); and Championship Wrestling (7 p.m.).
• THURSDAY: Kids Night (kids enter free/discounted arm bands); Pet Show (5 p.m.); Cornhole Tournament (6 p.m.); Magic/Illusionist Show (6 p.m.); Vegas Fashion Review (7 p.m.); and Fun Horse Show (7 p.m.).
• FRIDAY: Jeep Rally (6-8 p.m.); Goat Show (6:30 p.m.); Magic/Illusionist Show (6 p.m.); Wedding Vow Renewal (7 p.m.); Quarter Horse Show (7 p.m.); Elvis Show (8 p.m.); and Geek Trivia (8 p.m.).
• SATURDAY: Lawn & Garden Tractor Pull (1 p.m.); Century Farm Dinner (3 p.m.); Spoons Game and DJ Music (6-9 p.m.); Card Games and Poker Tournament (6 p.m.); Beef Heifer Show (6:30 p.m.); Bullwhip Rodeo (7 p.m.); and Best High Roller Outfit Contest (7:30 p.m.).
