Local students awarded FFA scholarships

GATLINBURG-Clay County High School students Kylie Tinsley and Kadence Smith have been selected to receive Tennessee Future Farmers of America (FFA) Foundation scholarships.
Both students are dedicated members of the Clay County FFA Chapter and will be recognized onstage here at the 97th Annual Tennessee FFA State Convention next week.
Tinsley has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Joe Lancaster Family Scholarship and will receive a $500 scholarship, while Smith will also be awarded $500 as the recipient of the 2025 Institutional Wholesale Company Scholarship.
Both were selected from separate competitive fields of 116 applicants across the state, and the scholarships will be used to support the students’ postsecondary educations.
Tennessee FFA Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students who have exhibited academic prowess, served their communities, and invested time into FFA over the course of their high school careers.
These scholarships have been established by local and state organizations wishing to honor men and women who had a vested interest in agriculture throughout their lifetime. The scholarship recipients are selected by a committee of agriculture industry leaders.
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
Nationally, there are 1,027,273 FFA members in grades 5-12 and college. The Tennessee FFA Association is comprised of more than 33,000 members from 248 high school, middle school, and collegiate chapters.
