All business at final county meet of year

CELINA-Clay County Commissioners were all business at their final meeting of the year here last week, as they approved several resolutions during their December gathering.
Commissioner Jerry Rhoton made a motion to authorize and appropriate funds for an actuarial study of the cost associated with a hazardous duty supplemental benefit pursuant to Tennessee code annotated, section 8-36-212.
Commissioner Jennifer Ritter seconded the motion, and it passed 9-0.
Ritter made a motion requesting the 114th session of the Tennessee General Assembly to allocate on half of the real estate transfer tax to the county, where the tax was collected on a recurring basis.
Commissioner Bryan Coons seconded the motion, and it passed 9-0.
Commissioner Winton Young made a motion to approve the budget amendment for the 2024-2025 fiscal year for the Clay County highway and public works fund.
Commissioner Dorothy Forney seconded the motion, and it passed 9-0.
Ritter also made a motion approving a budget amendment for the Clay County general fund.
Forney seconded the motion, and it passed 9-0.
This budget amendment was for money returned to the budget following the sale of some Clay County Sheriff’s Office surplus vehicles.
Coons made a motion approving a budget amendment for the Clay County courthouse jail maintenance fund, which also passed unanimously.
Ritter made a motion approving Christy Slayton as a notary. Rhoton seconded the motion, and it passed 9-0.
Commissioner Mark Poindexter was not present for the final meeting of 2024 held by the governing body.
