First Star Point night tournament blasts off a week from Saturday
BYRDSTOWN-The first of the many night tournaments to be held here this summer is set to blast-off here at Star Point Resort next Saturday night, May 7 at 6 p.m.
The first few smallmouth-only events will begin with the early start and end with a 12 midnight weigh-in. As in years past, the ‘buddy’ tournaments will feature a $40-per-team entry fee, a two-fish limit, and 100% payback.
“We had another good year last season,” tournament director Randy Roysden told the HORIZON Monday. “We saw good turnouts, big purses, and several trophy smallmouth–all of which we hope to see again this summer.”
The events are fished almost every Saturday night, with the exception of some holiday weekends, from May through September.
“We are looking forward to another fun year and again we want to extend an invitation to all area fishermen to come fish with us,” Roysden said. “The more the merrier.”
He also said there would be a big fish of the year pot organized again this year, but specifics have yet to be announced.
