Free reading program remains available to county’s children
CLAY COUNTY-Imagination Library reading program officials here want to remind all parents of children five years old or younger to register their children in the program.
“This is one of the most important things you can do for your child,” program volunteer Lillian White said. “If your child doesn’t master reading skills, he or she could have trouble in school and the Imagination Library program can help them become better prepared.”
White said the program is available to children from birth through the age of five, and said they receive a book in the mail each month free of charge.
Since 2004, the program has graduated a total of 405 children and currently has an enrollment of 285 county youth.
“If your child isn’t registered to receive the books, please give me a call at 931-258-3229,” she said. “Our reading scores are up to you as a parent.
“We encourage you to sign up to get these books and read to your child.”
