Haynes is first local to make TAF Top 10

Clay County Fair also claims multiple awards
MURFREESBORO-Miss Clay County Fairest of the Fair Laney Haynes made history here at this year’s Tennessee Association of Fairs (TAF) pageant, as she became the first local to finish in the Top 10.
Haynes also received second place in the best decorated shoe contest among pageant entrants.
In addition to Haynes’ success, the 2024 Clay County Fair also received other awards when local fair board members and supporters traveled to the TAF convention earlier this month.
The fair was honored with an Award of Merit in recognition of “special excellence in fair operation and the promotion of agriculture,” the award said.
In addition, Bille Stone’s quilt won second place and the Clay County Fair’s scrapbook created by Joy McLerran took third place in their respective statewide competitions.
Local rodeo provider James Atchley and his staff were also on hand for the event promoting Bullwhip Rodeo, which is a longtime staple of the Clay County Fair and many others across the state.
