Health Dept. introduces Nicotine Free Communities initiative
CELINA-The Clay County Health Department is launching a Nicotine Free Communities campaign.
The initiative encourages local government, organizations, and business owners to “pledge” to be a tobacco free space and take a step toward promoting a healthier community.
By taking the pledge, organizations are committed to maintaining a nicotine and tobacco free space, help provide education and cessation resources, and be a leader in creating and sustaining a wellness-focused community free of nicotine and tobacco.
Organizations that take the pledge will receive education and cessation resources to share, signage to show their support for nicotine free communities, and will be recognized for their pledge during a local county health council meeting.
“This pledge is about more than policy—it is about people, said Matt Tuck, County Director of the Clay County Public Health Department. “Together we can protect our youth, empower those ready to quit, and build a community free from the harms of nicotine and tobacco.”
