History museum hosts Clay 4th-graders

Hermitage Springs and Celina K-8 students learn about local history
CELINA-The Clay County Museum of History recently hosted the 4th-grade classes from both elementary schools in the county.
Students from Hermitage Springs School and Celina K-8 toured the museum and got lessons from local historians on the rich history of Clay County.
“Having the 4th grade class from Celina K-8 and Hermitage Springs Elementary to visit the museum is our favorite event,” said museum director Beverly Hollifield. “Their interest and enthusiasm about the history of Clay County is infectious and exciting to see.
“They are our future, and it’s our delight for them to visit us.”
Hollifield thanked local history buffs Thomas Watson and Kenzie Adams for the presentations they made to the students.
She also offered her appreciation to Twin Lakes Telephone Cooperative for providing gift bags and pencils to the students, and thanked museum volunteers Jody Walters, Sydney Birdwell and Susan for their help in “creating a fun visit.”
After the museum visit, the students enjoyed a meal and some recreation at Donaldson Park.
