Holiday events continue this weekend following another successful parade
Christmas Reunion Variety Show planned for December 13
CELINA-As an encore to a successful parade kicking off the holiday season over the weekend, other Christmas-related events are planned for the coming weeks.
The Clay County Merry & Bright Christmas Parade rolled through town last Saturday with grand marshal Evan Hayes leading the way and over 100 entries for onlookers to enjoy.
Winners included Modern Homestead for most holiday spirit, City of Celina Sanitation for most creative, Celina Lumber for best use of theme, TDS for best decorated vehicle, and Santa’s elves for best costumes.
Local holiday happenings will continue here this weekend with Christmas on the Square.
The downtown celebration is set for this Saturday, December 7 around the Historic Clay County Courthouse square.
This year’s event will be similar to last year’s Christmas on the Square, which featured appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, train rides, horse and wagon rides, photo props, face painting, cookie decorating, and much more.
“It’s the most magical time of the year again, and the downtown square is the perfect place to experience the true spirit of Christmas,” organizers said prior to their last event. “There will be something for those of all ages.
“Kids will love meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus, while adults can indulge in some delicious holiday treats and warm drinks. And of course, no Christmas event is complete without a little bit of shopping, and the vendors here offer a wide range of unique gifts and crafts.”
Besides the return of Christmas on the Square, Friday, December 13 will also feature another performance at CLAYPAC (Clay Performing Arts Center) inside the Historic Clay County Courthouse, where a Christmas Reunion Variety Show event will be held beginning at 7 p.m.
“This is a special event with songs, skits, poetry, and any type of good, family entertainment,” organizers said. “Any and all are invited to take part.”
