RED BOILING SPRINGS-Funeral Services for Jean Leonard Cherry of the Mt. Vernon Community in Clay County, TN were conducted Friday afternoon, January 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Glen Crowe officiating. Interment followed in the Browning Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Stacey Woodard, Alice Antone, Lavonne Swindle, Marie Doney, and Doris Bandy. Active Pallbearers were Buddy Head, Buddy Leonard, Clint Fraley, Chuck Hawkins, Jeff Hix and Mark Newberry.
Jean Leonard Cherry, age 55 passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 18, 2011 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville.
Jean was born Saturday, June 18, 1955 in Macon County, TN, one of twelve siblings of the late Porter and Mary Ellen Knight Leonard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Dale, Vestal and Danny “Fisher” Leonard. On September 29, 1973, she married Lennis Cherry, who survives. Jean was a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ and was currently employed with The Palace in Red Boiling Springs.
Survivors besides her husband, Lennis of 37 years include: daughter, Tonya Cherry, Celina, son & daughter-in-law, Troy & Amy Cherry, Knoxville, grandsons, Bryson, Porter and Thatcher Cherry, sisters & brothers-in-law, Ruby & Louie Newberry, Rita & Jerry Hix, Donna Davidson all of Red Boiling Springs, Reba & Roger Ferguson, Rockdale, TX, brothers, Ed Leonard, Benny Leonard and Barry Leonard all of Red Boiling Springs, Hugh Wayne Leonard, Bowling Green, KY, host of nieces and nephews.
