K-8 girls softball team has unbeaten season
CELINA-The K-8 Junior High girls softball team completed a perfect 6-0 season this past school year in the midst of a very wet spring.
The team beat Jackson County and Hermitage Springs twice, and also beat Livingston and Pickett County once each.
Pitcher Alex Grace, backed by a strong defense, pitched shutouts against Jackson County and Hermitage Springs.
Celina beat Jackson County 1-0 and 2-1 in a pair of nail-biters, Hermitage Springs 13-1 and 10-0, Pickett County 14-4 and Livingston 2-1 in another close game.
The team was coached by Mark Strong with help from assistants Kim and Donnie Grace. Alexis Page served the team as manager. Local businesses funded buses for away games through sign purchases, and also helped fund a trip for the team to see the University of Tennessee Lady Vols play a tournament in Knoxville.
