Several Clay County High School softball and baseball players recently received recognition on the All-District 7-A or all-tournament teams.
Coach Randall Walker’s Lady Bulldog softball team landed four players on the All-District (regular season) team, one on the all-freshman team, and four on the 7-A all-tournament team.
Walker was also honored, grabbing co-coach of the year honors.
The CCHS baseball team had three players make all-district, giving Clay County 11 players honored on some type of glitter squad.
Softball all-stars
Four players made the all-district team, led by three seniors. Katie Kerr, Haley Wix and Rachel Morris were joined by junior Sarah Ogletree on the team.
Kerr and Wix were also named to the all-tournament team, and were joined by Chelsey McLerran and Rachel Burnette.
Baseball all-stars
The Bulldogs landed Tyler Edwards, Cody Collins and William Bailey on the all-district team.
Edwards made the glitter squad for the third year in a row, and Collins for the second year in a row for coach Dickie Brown.
Monterey won their fifth district title in a row this season in a stretch where they have lost only two of their past 50-plus games in 7-A play. The Wildcats also advanced to the state tournament for the first time in school history.
All-freshman
Sydney Roach was named to the all-freshman team, giving the Lady Dawgs a player on that team for the second year in a row. Burnette was named the co-MVP of the district all-freshman team last season.
