Lady Dawgs upset Clarkrange; Clay teams get to 2-1 in district

CELINA-With an upset win over Clarkrange, the Lady Bulldogs improved their District 7-A standing last week and joined their male counterparts with a 2-1 league record.
After the Bulldogs also took care of business against the Buffaloes, both Clay County High School (CCHS) teams moved into second place in their respective conferences behind Pickett County.
The CCHS squads were scheduled to continue district action this week by traveling to Gordonsville Tuesday (after HORION press time) and hosting Red Boiling Springs Friday.
They were also set to take a non-conference road trip to South Pittsburg Saturday, before returning home the following Tuesday for rematches with Pickett County—whose boys and girls handed the Clay County teams’ their lone district losses earlier this month.
The Dawgs improved their impressive record to 11-3 by beating both Clarkrange and Macon County last week, while the Lady Dawgs split their last two by falling to the Tigerettes and beating the Lady Buffaloes to get to 6-10 on the season.
All of Clay County’s upcoming contests will be carried live by the Horizon Sports Network, with a video live-stream available on the Dale Hollow Horizon Facebook page and audio-only coverage online at www.dalehollowhorizon.com/listen.
