The continues to complete the challenge to raise funds for the expansion of the library, including making the bathroom facilities ADA compliant.
“We currently are overcrowded, and to bring in new books or other materials, we must take out others to make room,” librarian Judith Cutright said. “The additional 2,800 square feet will allow for a wider choice of books and materials and give room for children’s programs.”
State senator Mark Pody emceed the event and introduced 38th district representative Kelly Keisling, Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett, Celina mayor Joey Rich, county mayor Dale Reagan, sheriff Brandon Boone, and regional library system manager Matt Kirby.
“The regional library system works in the background providing support to local libraries with training and other assistance,” Kirby said. “I also want to recognize the Clay County library board members who have all completed training for library certification.”
“It is not just about the building, but what goes on in the building,” Secretary Hargett stated. “The expansion will allow more opportunity for learning every time someone opens a book.”
Kirby also pointed out it is the only library board in the state whose members have all been certified.
The Change for Change Challenge is ongoing and all donations of change and/or other monetary contributions are welcome.
