Local artists invited to be part of UC group outdoor festival
By ALICE MAIWALD
Hello, artists.
I’d like to personally invite you to consider participating in the Upper Cumberland Arts Alliance’s second outdoor festival, set for 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, June 20, in Granville’s Veteran’s Park. Contact Jerry Stout at [email protected] or Alice Maiwald at 931-265-0338.
The Fresh Air Arts Festival is a unique opportunity. Last year was the first public arts and craft show in the Upper Cumberland to exhibit the work of “plein air” painters and their peers in other painting styles, photography and illustration, as well as artisans of all craft media, including clay, fibers, glass, metal and wood. Through events such as the Fresh Air Arts Festival in Granville, we’re working hard to show the public what artists do, how they do it, and encourage sales of art work.
We’re committed to doing everything we can to make this event a success. But to be frank, this is the festival’s first year, and it’s quite possible that it will start out small, growing over time as the news spreads of this genuinely unique opportunity for artists and art lovers in our region.
That’s why I’m writing to you. I’m asking all artisans in the 14-county Upper Cumberland Development District to help us make this year another success. We need artists, and we need people to attend. If you can participate, please do. If you can’t, help us spread the news to artists who might be interested. The arts in the Upper Cumberland are strong, and with all of us working together, they can be stronger yet.
If you’re not already a member of the Upper Cumberland Arts Alliance, I strongly encourage you to consider joining. You can learn more about us at our web site at www.uppercumberlandartsalliance.com or you can call me directly at 931-265-0388. As a lifelong lover of the arts, I so appreciate everything you do for our community. Thank you.
