Georgia Philpott, 85
CELINA-Funeral Services for Mrs. Georgia Philpott, were held, Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the Chapel of Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Bobby Bartlett officiating and interment followed in the Freehill Cemetery. JB Killmon, Jeff Allen, Kyle Whitlow, Carl Philpott Jr., Jake Copeland and Bob Williams served as Pallbearers.
Mrs. Georgia Philpott, age 85, of Celina, TN passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, in Radcliff, Kentucky.
She was born on Tuesday, November 22, 1938, to the late Tommy and Ida (Shirley) Andrews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her spouse, Jimmy Lewis Philpott; sisters, Miltra Page, Louise Plumlee, Ruby Richardson, Emma Tooley, and Ann Andrews; brothers, Roy, Paul, Amos, and John Andrews; brother-in-law, Jesse Graves Jr.
Georgia married her true love Jimmy Lewis Philpott on November 18, 1961, and were married fifty-nine years.
She worked as a dietician in the local hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading her bible, cooking, and singing. She enjoyed visiting and talking with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Carlie Whitlow; sisters-in-law, Melanie Kirk, Lela Campbell, and Bertie Hurdle; brothers-in-law, Tony Graves, Perry Graves and Freddie Moody; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors that will mourn her passing.

Danny Sexton, 74
CELINA-Mr. Danny Sexton, age 74, of Mount Juliet, TN passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Adult Hospital. The family chose cremation and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
He was born on Saturday, November 5, 1949, to the late Lucian and Dovie T. (Stubblefield) Sexton Jr. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sons, Greg and Chad Sexton; sisters, Doris Sexton and Beth Dale.
Danny worked in as a carpenter. He enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Darrian Williams, Trey Sexton, Brett Sexton, Riley Sexton, Payton Houchens, and Gabriel Snyder; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jan Grissiam, Dianna Cassetty and Lisa Heady; brothers, Doug Sexton and Mike Sexton; as well as a host of friends and neighbors that will mourn his passing.

Mitchell Shawn Purser, 56
CELINA-Mitchell Shawn Purser was born April 24, 1968, in Florence, Alabama, and he passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at his residence in Celina, TN at the age of 56.
Mitchell was the son of Larry Purser and Polly Watkins Purser Roth. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, brother: Curtis M. Purser.
Survivors include his mother: Polly Roth; brother: Bryant Purser; sister: Amy White and several other relatives and friends also survive.
The family has chosen cremation at this time. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. The Family is requesting memorial donations be made to help towards Mitchell’s final expenses by contacting Clay County Funeral Home.

Terry Phillips, 61
CELINA-Terry “Tata” Gene Phillips was born October 5, 1962, in Frankfort, Indiana, and he passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Tri Star Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, TN at the age of 61.
Tata was the son of William and Anne Phillips. He was a loving father figure to his “kids,” and he was one of the best moonshiners known for producing his smooth crystal-clear shine. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Lisa Phillips Rolin and brother: William “Bill” Phillips; Special friends: Arno and Vicki Hatcher.
Survivors include his kids he never had: Craig Copess and Judy Hatcher; brothers: Ricky, Brett, James and Dewayne “Podge” Phillips; uncle: Jack Dodson; special niece: Kristy Greer; Grandchildren: Gracie, Bailea, Everleigh, Rhett, and Hatcher and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
The family has chosen cremation at this time. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. The Family is requesting memorial donations be made to help towards Tata’s final expenses by contacting Clay County Funeral Home.
