Full state, region results released

COOKEVILLE-Clay County had another excellent showing at the 2026 Tennessee State and Region 4-H Swine Shows held here earlier this month at Tennessee Tech’s Hyder Burks Pavilion.

Local 4-Hers competed in Breeding Gilts, Market Hogs, Prospect Hogs, and Showmanship, along with the following educational contests: Skillathon, Graphic Design, Sales Talk, and Photography.

Showmanship highlights the skills of the showman and their ability to present their pig in a way that keeps them looking their best, while overall gilt, market hog, and other classes showcase the quality of the animals raised by contestants.

In Skillathon 4-hers take a test to test their knowledge on the swine industry, in Sales Talk they do a mock sale of a pig to prospective buyers, and Premier Exhibitor combines points across Showmanship, class wins, and Skillathon.

Grade levels include:

• Explorer:  4th grade,

• Junior:  5th-6th grades,

• Junior High:  7th-8th grades,

• Senior Level 1:  9th-10th grades, and

• Senior Level 2:  11th-12th grades.
