Lots of budget amendments are passed in June commission meeting
CELINA-In addition to a vote on filling a vacant school board spot that ended in a 4-4 tie, the Clay County Commission acted on several resolutions at its June meeting.
As is often the case as a fiscal year comes to an end, seven of the nine resolutions voted on were budget amendments or budget related.
In the two non-budget resolutions, commissioners:
• voted to authorize a litter and trash collection grant application to the state Dept. of Transportation, and
• voted to appoint Elaine Cherry (reappointment), Judy Fox and Doug Young to the Clay County Library Board.
In the budget-related items, commissioners:
• approved a budget amendment shifting $34,250 from bridge construction to 10 different line items in the highway/public works fund. The biggest line item was $29,900 for liquid asphalt,
• transferred $8,034 between the debt service, county improvement and county general funds, “in reference to the new $50 litigation tax resolution passed in November, 2008,” the resolution said,
• passed a continuing budget and tax rate for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
• transferred $10,443 and $300 from various line items in the county general fund,
• transferred $1,000 in the library fund,
• transferred $200 in the sanitation fund, and
• transferred $2,320 in the debt service fund.
