Maxfield chosen to lead Bulldog football team
CELINA-Former Bulldog player and now former assistant coach David Maxfield has been chosen to lead the Clay County High football team, school officials announced Tuesday.
Maxfield, a Bulldog assistant coach for the past six seasons who has also pulled double-duty as a junior high assistant, replaces Dickie Brown, who recently resigned to take the head job at York Institute.
Maxfield is a 1992 graduate of Celina High School and a 2000 graduate of Tennessee Tech University. He completed his M.A. degree in instructional leadership at Tennessee Tech in 2008, and has taught 7th and 8th grade math at Celina K-8 for the past seven years.
Maxfield and wife Kim reside in the Maple Grove area with their three sons, Matthew, Dylan and Ben. Kim teaches language arts at Celina K-8.
Maxfield has served in a variety of capacities as a Bulldog assistant, including defensive coordinator, offensive line coach, defensive line coach, wide receiver coach, and linebacker coach. School officials said Maxfield will immediately begin organizing his staff and planning for the upcoming season.
