Museum Festival set this weekend
CELINA-The Annual Clay County Museum Festival will be held here on the historic courthouse square this Saturday, and organizers have announced a final schedule for the one-day event to benefit the Clay County Museum of History.
“We have tremendous support from the community and the businesses in the community with donations,” museum president Beverly Hollifield said. “We are looking forward to Saturday, are proud to be here in the community, and to feel the community wants to support our efforts towards being a top-notch, state-of-the-art museum.
“We encourage everybody to come on down, and it looks like the weather is going to hold out for us!”
The day will begin with a car show at the old Celina High School at 9 a.m. and include food booths, vendors, and much more here around the Historic Clay County Courthouse square.
The Kentucky Headhunters King of Marbles Tournament will also kick off at the same time as the car show at The Yard at the Fairgrounds.
Other feature events will included the “Mighty Duck Race” at 2 p.m., and both a cakewalk and the ever-popular Cow Patty Contest at 6 p.m.
Bounce houses will also be available throughout the day and Karaoke music will begin at 1 p.m., with live music from Crossfire kicking off the evening at 7 p.m.
Additionally, local stock car racer Jackson McLerran, who recently made his ARCA Menards Series debut, will be on hand to meet and greet fans, and the Clay County Cattleman’s Association will be serving up their signature ribeye sandwiches.
Other food vendors will include the Mini Doughnut Guy, 4-H Lemonade, and more. There will also be a wide array of craft vendors set up around the courthouse.
The day prior, Dale Hollow Pizza will also continue their tradition of donating to the museum.
“The pizza people are again going to give us their proceeds from Friday night,” Hollifield said. “They have been a strong contributor and have given us over $2,000 each year, which comes from their Friday night sales.
“We encourage everybody to come on down and eat pizza on Friday, and then join us on Saturday.”
