Nate Adams is one of three Class A Mr. Football Finalists
Clay County two-way star heading to Nissan Stadium December 10
NASHVILLE-Clay County’s sensational senior quarterback and defensive back Nate Adams has been named one of three finalists for the 2024 Tennessee Titans Class A Mr. Football award.
Adams was announced among the state’s elite tonight by Titans play-by-play announcer Mike Keith and Titans head coach Brian Callahan on the Titans website.
The Bulldog two-way star joins Whitwell’s Bennett McDougal and Mckenzie’s Tate Surber in contention for the award, which will be handed out here at an awards luncheon at Nissan Stadium December 10.
Adams wrapped up his illustrious career with Clay County in last Friday night’s State Quarterfinals with another outstanding performance.
His 243-yard, two-touchdown final outing gave him a 3,553 yards and 43 touchdowns on the season, which are both school records.
Adams has also passed for a program record 7,586 yards and 89 touchdowns in his career.
Defensively, he picked off seven passes this season and returned three of them for touchdowns. He also holds his school’s record for career interceptions with 31.
Adams is only the second-ever Bulldog to be considered for the designation, which honors the state’s best overall player in the classification.
His uncle Brian Burchett was a the only other Class A Mr. Football contender in program history. Burchett was named a finalist in 1990, but the award was won by Donelson Christian Academy’s Lorenza “Scooter” Edwards.
Adams led his Bulldog team to this year’s Region 4-A Championship and a 10-3 season. He was also a starter for Clay County as a sophomore on the 2022 Class A State Runner-up team.
A committee of statewide sports writers selected Mr. Football winners based on regular-season performance, academics, and character, after high school head coaches and members of the media made player nominations.
