“Nicks” are named players of the week
CELINA-It could be said last week’s Clay County High win over Pickett County was just in the “Nick” of time.
It certainly came at a good time, stopping a three-game losing skid for the Dawgs, and kept their playoff hopes alive. It was also brought about in part by a couple of “Nicks” who were named players of the week for their efforts in the win over the Bocats.
Bulldogs Nick Cox and Nick Stephens have been named the HORIZON players of the week in the win over Pickett County.
Cox had his best offensive game of the year, rushing for 146 yards on only 13 carries, and scoring twice. He is the Bulldogs’ leading rusher on the year, with 62 carries for 400 yards.
Senior Stephens added 60 rushing yards, his season high, in the win, scoring once. He is the leading Bulldog scorer on the year with five touchdowns, and is the third leading rusher. He is also among the leading tacklers.
