Darrell Garvin King, 71
BURKESVILLE-Funeral services for Darrell Garvin King of Celina formerly of Burkesville were held here Saturday, March 7, 2009.
Mr. King passed away Wednesday March 4, 2009 at the Cumberland River Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1938 in Cumberland County to the late Homer (H.P.) and Lenora Craft King. He was a farmer and was a member of the Chestnut Grove UMC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson Jason; brothers Bernie and Hack King; and sister Jewell Young.
He is survived by son Joseph and Freda King of Celina; brothers Jack King of Indianapolis and Johnny King of Portland (TN); three sisters–Ruby Crawford of Beech Grove (IN), Celeste Ferguson of Franklin (KY), and Martha Ann Dishman of Mooreland (IN); special friends James and Martha Strong both of Celina; 10 grandchildren–Jeffrey, Heather, Larissa, Andrew, Brittany, Melissa, Ashley, Laura, Elizabeth, and Samuel; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Ballou and Stotts Funeral Home with Carlos H. Coop officiating. Burial was in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Ronald Strong, Donald Strong, Ricky Strong, Scott King, Jerry Ballou, and David Ferguson.
Ballou and Stotts Funeral Home of Burkesville was in charge of arrangements.
Nardie Lee (Stone) Copas, 92
TOMPKINSVILLE-Funeral services for Nardie Lee (Stone) Copas of Tompkinsville were held here Friday, March 13, 2009.
Mrs. Copas passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Monroe Health and Rehab Center in Tompkinsville.
She was born January 26, 1917 in Clay County to the late Amos Stone and Gladys Smith Stone. She was a 1936 graduate of Celina High School, a member of the Germany Church of Christ, a retired homemaker, and the widow of Basil Russell Copas, who died July 21, 1992. They were married June 20, 1936 in Tompkinville.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Anna and James Ritter of Tompkinsville and Martha Sue and John Kelly Murphy of Tompkinsville; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granchild; brother Harold Stone of Celina; and sister Ruby Scott of Celina.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Strode Funeral Home with Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial was in the Bailey Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Short, Jeff Ritter, Barry Murphy, Randy Murphy, Ronnie Brown, Alan Keele, and Scott Hale. Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Brown, Trent Murphy, Sawyer Murphy, Braden Murphy, Leah Ritter, Hunter Hale, Ashley Sawyer, Micha Short, Bryce Keele, Ethan Brown, Trevor Murphy, Brooke Murphy, Jessica Ritter, Hannah Hale, Erin Leach, Tyler Short, and Garrett Keele.
