Avon Davis, 88
RED BOILING SPRINGS-Funeral services for Avon Davis of Red Boiling Springs were held here Monday, May 18, 2009.
Mr. Davis passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 at his residence.
He was born August 21, 1920 in Clay County to the late Jessie and Allie Davis. On November 29, 1941, he married Bertha Pedigo, who preceded him in death on October 3, 2007. He was a farmer and a sawmill worker and was a member of the Red Boiling Springs Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by half-brothers Doyle and Leon Coons; and half-sisters Melba Mallinson and Velma Wilmes.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Gerald and Bonita Davis of Red Boiling Springs; sister Hilda (Andy) Biles of Hermitage Springs; step-granddaughter Shellie Frogge; step-grandsons and wives Marty and Suzanne Frogge, Donald and Polly Frogge, and Anthony Frogge; and special great-granddaughter Alexes Robertson all of Bowling Green; half-sisters Mildred Cason of Nashville, Alma Holloway of Lancaster (CA), Elizabeth Jenkins of Gainesboro; half-brother Charles Coons of Morton, IL; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Anderson and Son Funeral Home with Donnie Barnes officiating. Burial was in the Whitley Cemetery. His family and friends served as pallbearers.

Anna Lucille McCarter Davis Fisher, 79
RED BOILING SPRINGS-Funeral services for Anna Lucille McCarter Davis Fisher of Red Boiling Springs were held here Thursday, May 19, 2009.
Ms. Fisher passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
She was born Sunday, May 11, 1930 in Clay County to the late Harrison and Ethel Coons McCarter. She was a secretary at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis (IN) with 20 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Delno York, Pearl Knight, and Eunice Cole; brothers Willard, Carson and Oren McCarter; great-granddaughter Whitney Allen; and great-grandson Nathaniel Tamosaitis.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Shirley Davis of Red Boiling Springs, Cathy and Jeff Johnston of Indianapolis, and Lisa Fisher of Clarksville; sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Nancy Davis of Indianapolis, Jack and Pat Davis of the Hermitage Springs Community, and Mark Davis of Mt. Wolfe (PA); sister Mildred Denton of Red Boiling Springs; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Anderson and Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial was in the Leonard Cemetery. Her family served as pallbearers.

Billy Joe Craighead, 72
CELINA-Funeral services for Billy Joe Craighead of Moss were held here Monday, May 18, 2009.
Mr. Craighead passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Cumberland River Hospital.
He was born February 25, 1937 in Oak Grove to the late Herman and Maxie (Eads) Craighead. He was a heavy equipment operator and was affiliated with the Oak Grove Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Clifton, Paul, Poe, and Don Craighead.
He is survived by wife Katherine (Spear) Craighead of Moss; sons and daughters-in-law Billy Joe and Barbara Craighead of Lebanon and David and Wannie Craighead of Moss; six grandchildren–Tiona Katherine Young, Bradley Craighead, A.J. Craighead, Lee Craighead, Amber Craighead, and Tanya Craighead; three great-grandchildren–Jade Young, Ty Young, and Kyley Craighead.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Gary Wilder officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Brad Craighead, A.J. Craighead, Lee Craighead, Johnny Young, Ronnie Craighead, and Jerry Craighead.

Paul Ulis Reecer, 83
CELINA-Funeral services for Paul Ulis Reecer of Moss were held here Sunday, May 17, 2009.
Mr. Reecer passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Cumberland River Hospital.
He was born April 16, 1926 in Celina to the late Fred and Nancy (Smith) Reecer. He was a farmer and was affiliated with the Pine Hill Church of Christ.
He is survived by wife Beulah (McLerran) Reecer of Moss; daughter and son-in-law Margie and Donnie Boone of Moss; sisters, Alice Turner Chandler of Gallatin and Beulah Netherton of Hermitage; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law Matthew and Cara Boone of Livingston and Brandon and Paula Boone of Celina; great-grandchildren Rachel Burnette, Josh Jenkins, Brittany Boone, Taylor Layne Boone, and Parker Boone.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Dale Strong officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Collins, Billy Gene Smith, Eddie Smith, Junior Key, Todd Jolin, Randall Kendall, James Sexton and Keith Reecer. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bruce Reecer, Rodney Jolin and Avery Allen Reecer.

Ray Dillon Hicks, 65
CELINA-Funeral services for Ray Dillon Hicks of Mt. Vernon were held here Sunday, May 17, 2009.
Mr. Hicks passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Sumner Medical Center.
He was born June 29, 1943 in Whitleyville to the late Ellis Mount and Bella (Johnson) Hicks. He was a truck driver, Chief of Mt. Vernon Fire Department and Constable 2nd District in Clay County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Alvin Hicks; three half-brothers; and six half-sisters.
He is survived by wife Faye (Dodson) Hicks of Mt. Vernon; sons Jeff Likens of Union Hill and Ellis Hicks of Union Hill; daughters and son-in-law Cheryl and David Dyer of Mt. Vernon and Monica Asberry of Mt. Vernon; brother Everett Hicks of Gallatin; grandchildren Tara Asberry of Mt. Vernon and Jessica Dyer of Mt. Vernon; and great-grandchild Caden Dyer.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Barry Brawner officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Ricky Bean, Randy Bean, Rob Bean, Matthew Smith, Curtis Hatcher and Kurtis Rhoton. Honorary pallbearers were the Mt. Vernon Fire Department volunteers.
