Alta Cherry Morgan, 90
RED BOILING SPRINGS-Funeral services for Alta Cherry Morgan of the Winklers Community in Macon County were held here Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
Mrs. Morgan passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Macon County General Hospital.
She was born November 24, 1918 in Clay County to the late Rad and Mary Green Cherry. On December 1, 1945, she married Baxter C. “Jack” Morgan, who preceded her in death on July 14, 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sadlers Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by infant daughter Reida Gale Morgan; sisters Ada Cross and Etta Cook; and brothers Sammy, Aubie, Carlie, and William “Bill” Cherry.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Sammy Morgan, James “Bobby” and Dixie Morgan, and Raney and Sheryl Morgan all of Red Boiling Springs; sister Bonnie York of Red Boiling Springs; granddaughters Beverly Tuck of Red Boiling Springs, Julie (Troy) Cammack of Tompkinsville, and Tina (Doug) Maynard of Nolensville; grandsons Jimmy (Ellen) Morgan and Ronnie (Angie) Morgan all of Red Boiling Springs; great-grandchildren Spencer and Cayley Tuck, Ethan and Seth Cammack, Morgan, Savannah, and Gentry Maynard, Taylor Coffelt, Bailey and Briley Morgan and Owen Morgan.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Anderson and Son Funeral Home with Jeremy Yokley officiating. Burial was in the Neal Cemetery in Flippin (KY). Serving as pallbearers were Doug Maynard, Troy Cammack, J.R. Cherry, Timmy Disman, Donnie Disman, and Paul Cook.
Anderson and Son Funeral Home of Red Boiling Springs was in charge of arrangements.
Shirley Skipworth Groce, 60
BURKESVILLE-Funeral services for Shirley Skipworth Groce of Celina were held here Friday, July 17, 2009.
Ms. Gross passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Cumberland River Hospital.
She was born January 15, 1949 in Cumberland County to the late William Goble and Ethel Francis Harris Skipworth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Bonnie “BeeGee” Groce; and siblings Buddy Huddleston, Janie Harden, Phyllis Corbin, and Pauline Harmon.
She is survived by brothers Howard Skipworth and Jerry Skipworth both of Celina; sisters Bonnie Eads and Kay Velie both of Celina; special friend Jerry Key of Celina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Ballou and Stotts Funeral Home with Todd Bryant officiating. Burial was in the Guthrie Chapel Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Timmy Schultz, Tyler Skipworth, Steven Cox, Jonathan Owens, Wayne Corbin, and Johnny Wayne Corbin. Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Key, William Short, and Stevie Short.
