Mayford Harlan Johnson, 83

CELINA-Funeral services for Mayford Harlan Johnson of Indianapolis (IN) were held here Saturday, August 22, 2009.

Mr. Johnson passed away Monday, August 17, 2009.

He was born September 13, 1925 in Clay County to the late Sidney and Mary Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He married Frankie Estelle Brown February 2, 1948 and was employed with Pullman Corp./Trialmobile for 32 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by children Brenda Sue and Michael Fay Johnson; and siblings James Medford Johnson, Willie D. Johnson, and Nelda Scott.

He is survived by wife Frankie Estelle Johnson of Indianapolis; grandson Kevin Lackey of Greenwood (IN); great-grandson Aaron Michael Lackey of Greenwood; son-in-law Jimmy Dale Lackey; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with James Stephens officiating. Burial was in the Williams Cemetery.

Upton Funeral Home of Celina was in charge of arrangements.
