Dorothy Eakle Cherry, 88
TOMPKINSVILLE-Funeral services for Dorothy Eakle Cherry of Red Boiling Springs were held here Friday, January 16, 2009.
Mrs. Cherry passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Hendersonville Medical Center.
She was born September 23, 1920 in Monroe County to the late Palo Eakle and Dora Head Eakle. In 1943, she married Bob Cherry, who died August 27, 1992. She was a retired factory worker from Osh Kosh and Genesco and was a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers–Delmus, Duward, Douglas, and Dallas Eakle; sister Delma Eakle; and son-in-law Larry Wayne West.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Donnie and Virginia Cherry of Red Boiling Springs; daughter Betty Carol West of Hendersonville; four grandchildren–Christy (Mike) Brown, Kerry (Courtney) West, Kayla (Carl) Alexander and Keeley Cherry; three great-grandchildren–Ryan and Austin Brown and Kaylor West; and three sisters-in-law–Bonnie (Paul) Havlick, Edith Cherry, and Juanita Cherry.
Funeral services were conducted from Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel with Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial was in the Clementsville Cemetery in Clay County. Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Boone, Dickey Cherry, Ray Clements, Thomas Copass, Harlan McLerran, and Jimmy Russell. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Biles, James Clint Brown, Mickey Clements, Kelly Duke Cherry, Willis Deckard, Lewis Eakle, and Eldon Scott.
Strode’s Funeral Home of Gamaliel was in charge of arrangements.
Donnie Dale Smith, 62
CELINA-Funeral services for Donnie Dale Smith of Union Hill were held here Monday, January 5, 2009.
Mr. Smith passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
He was born September 16, 1946 in Union Hill to the late Vancil and Mae (York) Smith, who survives. He was a retired machine operator at the Crotty Corporation.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by sister Linda Anderson; and granddaughter Olivia Anderson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by daughters Linda Rhoton of Celina, Lee Ann Smith of Moss, Lydia and Freddy Kendall of Moss, Vanessa Anderson and Jeremy Smith of Elizabethtown (KY), and Elizabeth Davis of Tompkinsville; brothers Coell Smith of Columbus (IN), Jack Smith of Moss, and Neal Smith of Moss; sisters Gen Pharris of Moss, Kat Wilkerson of Moss, Brenda Browning of Red Boiling Springs, and Sherry George of Red Boiling Springs; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Kerry Wilkerson officiating.
Upton Funeral Home of Celina was in charge of arrangements.
Mitchell Rhoton, 67
CELINA-Funeral services for Mitchell Rhoton of Moss were held here Saturday, January 3, 2009.
Mr. Rhoton passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was born February 23, 1941 in Clay County to the late Charlie Ray and Ivo (Denton) Rhoton. He worked as an auto body repairman.
He is survived by seven sons–Jeff of Moss, Ronnie of Indiana, Troy of Moss, David of Moss, Donald of Indiana, Harold of Indiana, and Brian of Indiana; daughters Tammy and Rhonda both of Indiana; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers Royce Rhoton of Indianapolis, Wayne Rhoton of Moss, and Doyle Rhoton of Moss; and sisters Eva J. Rhoton of Moss, Doyce Lawson of Celina, and Jean Davis of Lafayette.
Funeral services were conducted from the Macedonia Baptist Church with Paul Strong and Chris Vincent officiating. Burial was at Macedonia Cemetery.
