Opal L. Head, 85
CELINA-Funeral services for Opal L. Head of Moss were held here Sunday, November 8, 2009.
Mrs. Head passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Skyline Medical Center.
She was born July 6, 1924 in Pricetown, Tennessee to the late Bobo and Eva (Watkins) Price. She was a machinist for General Motors and was affiliated with the Church of Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by husband L.B. Head; brothers Jacky Dale and James Price; and sisters Mildred Smith, Delma Short, Thelma Price and Geraldine Cherry.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law David B. and Sharon Head of Moss and Gary Lee Head Sr. of Moss; daughter Brenda Stafford of Moss; Olyne Lawson of Norton (OH); 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Upton Funeral Home, with Lawrence Williamson officiating. Burial was in the Pitcock Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Scott Head, Gary Head, Jason Head, Derrick Head, Jeff Head, Ryan York, Harley York, and Cody Adams.
Upton Funeral Home of Celina was in charge of arrangements.
Franklin Delano Davis, 76
CELINA-Funeral services for Franklin Delano Davis of the Timothy community were held here Thursday, November 12, 2009.
Mr. Davis passed away Monday, November 9, 2009 at his residence.
He was born March 27, 1933 in Willow Grove to the late Jessie and Mary (Jackson) Davis. He was a saw mill worker for Green Forrest and was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Gary Wayne Davis, brothers Paul and Horton Davis and sister Sarah Daniels.
Survivors include wife Sally (Kyle) Davis of Timothy; sons Jessie Davis of Celina, Michael Davis of Celina and James Davis of Timothy; daughters Mary Lou Dickerson of Celina, Debra Smith of Cookeville and Betty Jean Ramsey of Allons; sisters Hattie Pearl Booher of Allons, Lou Ivy Rush of Livingston, Melba Allen of Thomasville (GA), Willie Grace Hargis of Livingston and Virgie Mosey of Sparta; grandchildren Marie Hardin, Randy Lee White Jr., Pam Davis, Samantha Bean and Kristi Davis; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Upton Funeral Home, with Randy Maynard officiating. Burial was in the Fellowship Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Davis, Mike Davis, Steve Merrick, Lee White, James Kyle and Debra Smith.

Edd Kendall, 95
MOSS-Funeral services for Edd Kendall of Moss were held here Monday, November 9, 2009.
Mr. Kendall passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born in Clay County on May 30, 1914, the son of the late Harrison and Florence (McLerran) Kendall. He was a member of Moss Church of Christ, and owned Edd Kendall’s General Merchandise for over 50 years. Also, he was one of the founding members of Red Hill Church of Christ in Pickett County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives Nola Kendall and Faye Kendall; brothers Alf and Abert Kendall; sisters Annie McLerran, Elsie Ogden and Elma Key; and granddaughter Melanie Turner.
He is survived by three daughters–Virginia (Edward) Thurman of Tompkinsville (KY), Virlinda Kendall of Tompkinsville, and Virrinda Walker of Lafayette; step-son Phillip Gibbons (Linda) of Lebanon (TN), grandchildren Wesley Turner, Heather Wainscott, Chad Thruman, Heath Walker, Scott Coots, Kirk Walker, Brett Walker, and Calen Walker; six great-grandchildren; sisters Nannie Bell Anderson and Lura Likens, both of Moss; and brothers Louie Kendall and Amon Kendall, both of Moss.
Services were conducted at the Moss Church of Christ, with Dennis Miller and Glenn Crowe officiating. Burial followed at the Moss Cemetery.

Lawrence Newman, 86
CELINA-Funeral services were held here for Lawrence Newman of Red Boiling Springs on Monday, November 9, 2009.
Mr. Newman passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina.
He was born in Clay County on January 27, 1923, to the late Harley and Etta (Cherry) Newman. He worked at the saw mill in Moss as a night watchman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives Naomi Cherry Newman and Thelma Strong Newman; brother Ridley Newman; and sisters Florence Henson, Lillie Fraley, and Myrtle Osgatharp.
He is survived by daughter Patricia (Dwight) Rich of Red Boiling Springs; nephew Tommy (Vicky) Newman of Red Boiling Springs; three step-children–Janice (Jeff) Kyle of Bowling Green (KY), Steven (Joyce) Strong of Moss, and Blake (Sue) Strong of Moss; sister Pam King of the Union Hill community; grandchildren Curtis Rich and Harli Newman, and Brad, Zack, Riley, Colin, Levi, and Logan Knight; and step-grandchildren Dana Blach, Alice Scott, and Garth Scott.
Services were conducted from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home, with Shane Smith officiating. Burial was in the Union Hill Cemetery.
