James Medford Johnson, 81
CELINA-Funeral services for James Medford Johnson of Otisco (IN)were held here Friday, February 13, 2009.
Mr. Johnson passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown (IN).
He was born October 25, 1927 in Celina to the late James Sidney and Mary (Thompson) Johnson. He was a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by wife Nell (Butler) Johnson of Otisco; sons Harold Johnson of Otisco, David Johnson of Otisco, Billy Johnson of Otisco, and Bobby Johnson of Sellersburg (IN); daughter Wonda (Johnson) Fey of Otisco; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchild Mayford Johnson of Indianapolis (IN).
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Bill Threet officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Cecil “Chin” Anderson, William “Slim” Thompson, James Robert Johnson, Daniel Voignier, Tony Calloway, and Shawn Johnson.
Upton Funeral Home of Celina was in charge of arrangements.
Flossie Avo Thompson, 96
CELINA- Funeral services for Flossie Avo Thompson of Celina were held here Saturday, February 14, 2009.
Mrs. Thompson passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Clay County Manor.
She was born April 2, 1912 in Celina to the late Andrew Jackson and Myrtie Elizabeth (Roach) Webb. She was a custodian for the Board of Education and was affiliated with the Lake Ave Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Domer Thompson; brothers Domer, Clifford, and A.G. Webb; and sisters Ruth Davis and Ovie Key.
She is survived by son Earl Thompson of Tompkinsville; daughters and sons-in-law Wilma and Edward Sherrell of Celina, Betty and Jessie Webb of Celina, and June Thompson of Cookeville; brothers James Clyde Webb of Mantua (NJ) and Champ Webb of Celina; eight grandchildren–Eddie Dean Sherrell, Harold Sherrell, Belinda McCoy, Nathan Sherrell, Deborah Axers, James Webb, Michael Earl Webb, and Jenny Autumn Teeples; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Don Bryant officiating. Burial was in the Fitzgerald Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Eddie Dean Sherrell, Nathan Sherrell, Michael Thompson, Jimmy Webb, James Webb, Steve Webb, and Keith Webb.

Isabelle Hatcher, 90
RED BOILING SPRINGS-Funeral services for Isabelle Hatcher of the Union Hill Community were held here Monday, February 16, 2009.
Ms. Hatcher passed away Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
She was born May 23, 1918 in Clay County to the late Rutherford and Etta (Gulley) Hatcher. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Dessie Jones, Bessie Davis, and Dovie Vandergriff; brothers Bill, Genie, Frank, and Bobby Hatcher; and great-grandson Josh Randall Hatcher.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Linda (Kenneth) Lee; sons and daughters-in-law Orville (Frances) Hatcher and Ricky (Liz) Hatcher all of the Union Hill Community; sister Elma Jenkins of Martin (KY); 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Phillip Anderson and Son Funeral Home with Tim White officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were her family and friends.

Irvin “Cob” Scott, 70
CELINA-Funeral services for Irvin “Cob” Scott of Burkesville were held here Wednesday, February 11, 2009.
Mr. Scott passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at his residence.
He was born August 4, 1938 in Tompkinsville to the late George and Ada Belle (Killman) Scott. He was self-employed and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Danny Scott.
He is survived by daughter Revena (Scotty) Birdwell; three sons–Randy (Amy) Scott, Gary Scott, and Daniel Scott; seven grandchildren–Shawn Killman, Sierra Killman, Austin Birdwell, Brianna Scott, Haley Scott, McKinze Scott, and Jordan Scott; special nieces Linda Huddleston and Raven Brown; special friends John Cherry and James Stafford; four sisters– Wanda Scott (Bruce Watson), Kathy (Tony) Stark, Ruby Scott (Joey Roach), and Annie Blakely (Jr. Graham); and brothers J.C. Scott and James Clarence Scott.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home. Burial was in the Ashlock Cemetery.

Captola Hatcher Harper, 55
CELINA-Funeral services for Captola Hatcher Harper of Red Boiling Springs were held here Friday, February 13, 2009.
Mrs. Harper passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at her residence.
She was born May 14, 1953 in Macon County to the late Amo and Jewell (Cross) Hatcher. She was a garment factory worker and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Tonya Ann Jones; and sister Ann Davis.
She is survived by sisters Creola Smith of Whitleyville and Betty Hatcher of Red Boiling Springs; four brothers–Robert Hatcher of Whitleyville, Eddie Hatcher of Red Boiling Springs, Arno Hatcher of Whitleyville, and Freddie Hatcher of Whitleyville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home with Glen Crowe officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
