Opal Irene (McBride) Spivey
BAPTIST RIDGE-Funeral Services for Mrs. Opal Irene Spivey, 87 of the Baptist Ridge Community in Clay County were held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Upton Funeral Home with James Delk officiating. Interment followed in the McDonald Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Doug Spivey, Kelly Spivey, James Homer Dailey, John Polston, Kevin Taylor and Jordon Dulworth.
Mrs. Opal Irene Spivey, age 87, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Opal Irene McBride was born July 7, 1924 in Clay County, Tennessee to the late Felix Granville “Jack” and Vewey (Gilpatrick) McBride. Opal married Perry Malcolm Spivey on September 17, 1942 in Georgia. Perry preceded her in death on April 22, 2008.
Opal was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sons, Minor Earl, Douglas and Malcolm Spivey; Son-in-law, Homer Dailey and sister, Dorthy McClain.
Opal is survived by her son, Joe Felix (Nell) Spivey of Monroe, Tennessee; Daughters, Mae “Sue” Dailey of Baptist Ridge Community, Jean (Johnny) Allen of Baptist Ridge community and Joyce (Steven) Strong of Celina; Brothers, Luther (Brenda) McBride of Baptist Ridge Community and Turner (Kathy) McBride of Indianapolis, Indiana; Grandchildren, Lisa Brown, Douglas Spivey Jr., Opal Estep, James Homer Dailey, Crystal Polston, Berniece Spivey, Kelly Spivey, Tessa Taylor and Meagan Allen; 12 Great Grandchildren; Special Caregiver, Patricia Sullivan; Host of Nieces and Nephews.
