Petty running for Twin Lakes Board, Area 1
CELINA-Karen Petty has announced her candidacy for election to the Twin Lakes Telephone Cooperative (TLTC) Board of Directors, Jackson County, Area 1.
“It would be my privilege to serve as your director and I humbly ask for your vote and support,” Petty said in her announcement.
Early voting will be held here and at all local Twin Lakes business offices on Saturday, September 25 and votes can also be cast on Saturday, October 2 at the TLTC Annual Meeting at Jackson County Middle School in Gainesboro. Voting times will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
Petty is a life-long resident of Jackson County, where she graduated from high school in 1986. She received a Bachelors degree in Education in 1991, followed by a Masters degree in 1995 from Tennessee Tech University. She also has an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from 2005.
“I work in our local school systems, Jackson and Macon Counties, as a special education liaison,” Petty said. “As an educator, I have a strong desire to ensure that every local student has the same quality education as others across the nation.
“This can only be achieved with the help of broadband provided by TLTC.”
Petty is married to Robert “Tootie” Petty and they have four children: Kendra, Kaleigh, Kara Grace, and Kendall. They attend church at McCoinsville Church of Christ.
“My family and I are actively involved in our community,” Petty said. “I realize that local businesses also require fast internet speeds to prosper and function competitively.
“I will work hard for the valued employees and members of Twin Lakes to continuously provide improved services through the cooperative.
