Pickers have OK week; little movement in race
It was one of those weeks in the Horizon Peerless Pigskin Prognosticator race where everybody did OK, but nobody did great, and as you would expect, the standings changed very little.
In the first week of the five-person race, the records ranged from 8-7 to 10-5, and there were a lot of games where pickers were the only ones to make the right or wrong prognostication.
In what little movement there was in the standings, Brent Burchett moved a game past brother Brian for second place, a game behind Thomas Watson, and Mark Strong moved out of a fourth-place tie, a game ahead of Teia Adams.
Brent and Strong had the best records of the week at 10-5, while Adams and Watson were 9-6 and Brian was 8-7.
Pickers get their final shot at high school games this week, choosing their winners in five TSSAA championships, held this year in nearby Cookeville. This will also be the last “normal” week for college games, as the regular season and conference title games come to an end.
The pickers will settle the championship with a heaping helping of college bowl games, starting in the next couple of weeks.
