Plank Yard access area set to close June 1
From Corps of Engineers
BYRDSTOWN-The Plank Yard Access Area located near here will be closed beginning June 1, 2009 and will remain closed for the duration of the summer recreation season.
The Plank Yard contains both a primitive camp site and boat launching ramp that will be affected by this site closure. This closure is necessary for the on-site construction of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Dale Hollow Lake barge.
The access road leading to the ramp will be gated and closed to vehicular traffic near the Corps’ boundary line. Vehicular traffic on the Plank Yard Road is extremely discouraged! The road width is narrow and there will be no turn-around point at the gate.
Nearby alternative boat launching ramps include Obey River Day Use Area, Sunset Marina, Star Point Marina, and Cove Creek. Updates as to the status of closure and reopening information will be posted on the Dale Hollow Lake Fishing Information page located at http://www.lrn.usace.army.mil/pao/lakeinfo/DAL.htm.
For additional information contact the Dale Hollow Lake Resource Manager’s Office at 931-243-3136 Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
