Rhoton receives honors

CELINA-Celina Health and Rehabilitation Center (CHRC) resident Hallie Buford has been recognized for her contributions and accomplishments among the Tennessee Health Care Association’s (THCA) “Who’s Who in Tennessee Long-term Care.”
The 96-year-old Clay County native lived in the Willow Grove community until the construction of Dale Hollow Dam, when her family relocated here to Celina.
Following a childhood spanning the Great Depression, Rhoton devoted her adult life to being a dedicated mother to her three children, whom she raised on her own.
She has since seen her family grow to include seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with another to be born soon.
Rhoton worked for OshKosh B’Gosh as a seamstress and at a local hospital as a housekeeper.
At CHRC, she is known for her bubbly personality and infectious kindness.
“She goes out of her way to make sure all of her fellow residents feel welcome, and is happy to lend a helping hand during a bingo game,” CHRC officials said.
Rhoton is also an avid colorer, enjoys going to church, and is known for her love of red cardinals.
