Several city projects are underway or will be soon
CELINA-Several city projects are underway or soon will be in the coming weeks and months, city officials announced last week.
“We have been working on improving our sidewalks in town for some time now, and will resume doing that when the weather permits,” said mayor Buddy Thompson. “We also have three water or sewer projects we have received funding for that will begin in the coming weeks or months.”
Included in the upcoming projects are:
• Water line extensions and replacements in the southern half of town, in the area around the post office, behind the Celina Church of Christ and behind the old Celina High School. That will be funded by a Community Development Block Grant from the state, Thompson said,
• A sewer system rehabilitation project to revamp the pump station at the water plant and replace some of the oldest or worst sewer lines in town. That will be funded by a $500,000 grant, and
• A combined city and county project, funded by total grant moneys of $342,000, to replace water lines on James White Road and to run water lines in the Clifton Rich hollow.
• Paving of city streets is another project planned by city officials, but that will not begin until the digging with the water and sewer line projects is completed, Thompson said.
