Smallmouth series hosting final ‘Major’ event Saturday
BYRDSTOWN-The smallmouth-only night tournament series will wrap up the season with a final ‘Major’ event Saturday night, where the entry fee is upped to $100 per boat and fishing hours are extended to 3 a.m.
Rod and Anderson Moon won the most recent tournament held last weekend with 3.39 pounds, while Steve Smith and Brandon Cross finished second (3.00 lbs.) and Jordan Garrett and Myles Leffew claimed the final paid position (2.44 lbs.).
The week prior, Tyler Arms and Corey Collier were the victors with 3.86 pounds. Anthony Jones and Casey Mullins finished second (3.24 lbs.) and Ethan Probst and Landrick Leffew came in third place (2.61 lbs.).
Prior to those events, John Ford and Tony Cross won the July 30th tournament with 3.31 pounds, while Chris Abbott and Garrett Moon finished second (3.21 lbs.).
Their victory came after the last ‘Major” event, which was won by Anthony Jones and Jeremy Garrett with a total of 3.32 pounds.
John Blevins and Dustin Newland finished as the runners-up (3.20 lbs.), Rod and Anthony Moon claimed third (2.91 lbs.), and Gary and Karen Militana rounded out the list of money winners with 2.82 pounds.
The series also has a big fish of the year contest and it pays out the to the top four heaviest smallmouth of the season.
