Spillway opened at Dale Hollow Dam
2 YEARS IN A ROW-After not seeing it for two decades, Clay County residents had their second chance in as many years to see the flood gates open at Dale Hollow Dam Monday. Thanks to historical rainfall last week, the lake’s level swelled a whopping seven feet in only a couple of days and now that conditions downstream have improved the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are able to give local marinas and campgrounds some relief from the highest water levels they’ve seen in over 30 years. The same conditions were seen a year ago, but last week the level rose over a foot higher than it did last May, cresting at an elevation over 657 feet above sea level–which was a full six feet above Dale Hollow’s summer pool.
