CELINA-A multi-agency training session was held here recently at Moody Recreation Area on the Obey River just outside of town.
Volunteer fire departments (VFDs) from Clay and Overton Counties were in attendance to train using a tool called a turbo draft, which pulls water from rivers, ponds, lakes, and other sources.
“(It) will help us on calls in areas where fire hydrants are sparse, but another water source is available,” Timothy VFD officials said on social media. “The turbo draft is attached to an input and an output fire hose, and submerged into the water source.
“The fire engine via the input hose forces water through the turbo draft, which creates a Venturi effect, producing 750 gallons per minute in return from the water source.”
Timothy VFD also offered their appreciation to all involved in making the training season a success.
