Volunteer coaches approved for junior high, high school football
CELINA-Several volunteer coaches were approved for county schools, among other business, at the Clay County school board meeting held August 20.
Three volunteer assistant football coaches were approved at the meeting. Dewayne McLerran as approved as an assistant junior high football coach at Celina K-8, while Matt Adams and Colby Garrison were approved as assistants for the Clay County High football team.
In other business, the board:
• voted to extend the use of vehicles with 12 years of service, which includes buses numbers 9, 10 and 47,
• voted to request bids for playground equipment,
• approved the extended contract program proposal for 2009-10,
• approved a resolution to borrow money or receive grants from non-educational institutions,
• heard reports from principals on events at their respective schools, and
• discussed with schools director Donnie Cherry the possibility of installing a security system at Clay County High School. One quote has been received and other prices will be checked.
The board is scheduled to hold its next regular meeting on September 10.
